Claussen pickles are located in the refrigerator section of the grocery store and as such, need to work harder at remaining competitive in the category. Davis’s design aimed to leverage the brand’s extremely fresh point of difference and its ensuing higher product quality. Premium and freshness cues are interwoven throughout this simple and timeless design. Rich greens and symmetrical graphics communicate confidence and quality. Vibrant imagery depicting the crisp and juicy crunch combine with light green flavor cues to support the product story “from vine to jar in eight days.”
